The Opportunity
Hello friends, I am reaching out outside of our regular rhythms to make you aware of an opportunity to provide support for an international church planting effort.
In just a few weeks, I will head to Bujumbura, Burundi, along with 3 other pastors/ministers from Watermark Fort Worth to support our friends at Mustard Seed Community Church.
Mustard Seed Community Church (MSCC) is a church plant in Bujumbura, Burundi, that launched in 2021. MSCC is led by Pastor Jean Baptiste Nyandwi, who has worked closely with many Watermark Fort Worth members over the past 6 years through discipleship and pastor training trips to Burundi.
On this upcoming trip, our team will be hosting a church leaders conference in Bujumbura to equip pastors and local church leaders to better shepherd the flock of God among them. Since many resources commonly used by church leaders in the West are not available in Burundi, these personal training sessions are essential for helping MSCC develop into a healthy, self-sustaining local church. This three-day conference will focus on critical topics in Healthy Church Leadership, Local Church Ministry, and Christian Living. As MSCC's planting church, we feel these equipping trips are a necessary (and joyful!) means of delivering to Mustard Seed the spiritual deposit that we have been entrusted with.
The Need
In order to make this trip happen, I need to raise $3,500 by May 24th to cover the cost of travel, lodging, food, and other conference resources while we are in Burundi. This allows us to provide MSCC with equipping and resources, with no financial burden (1 Thes 2:9).
If you are interested in giving to this church planting effort, you can do that by clicking on the link below and selecting "Church Planting Fund". Any funds that exceed our current need will be used to support future support of Mustard Seed Community Church and our other church planting efforts!
"I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel. For God is my witness, how I yearn for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus. And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God"
— Phil 1:3–11.
Thank you for your partnership in the gospel!
